Linux Platform Services Specialist

Are you a skilled Linux professional looking to join a global investment management firm that excels in systematic and quantitative strategies? Our client is seeking several 'Linux Platform Services Specialists' to be a vital part of their team in either London, Montreal, or Singapore. These roles involve delivering mission-critical infrastructure using DevOps methodology and collaborating with various teams to drive innovation and efficiency.
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, build, and maintain automated solutions for production support and user-facing services
- Design, monitor, and scale private and public cloud infrastructure
- Provide detailed and professional documentation
- Manage projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Automate business-as-usual (BAU) tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
- Implement and coordinate changes following approved change control policies
- Offer escalation support to resolve performance and availability issues
- Identify areas for improvement and adopt automated and innovative solutions
Some Key Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/OEL preferred) in an enterprise environment, focusing on operations, systems engineering, and containerisation
- Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerisation engines like Docker or Podman
- Expertise in developing and deploying containers via GitOps pipelines using tools such as Gitlab-ci and ArgoCD (Helm and Kustomize)
- Familiarity with managing software and protocols including Gitlab, Consul, Kafka, Artifactory (Jfrog), AWX/Tower, Tableau, SSOs (OpenID, SAML, Kerberos), Crowd (Atlassian), HAProxy, and Certificate Manager
- Skilled in scripting or development using Python, Ruby (Chef), Go, or Bash
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast delivery and integration of platform services
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related Information Technology field
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Pulumi, Bicep)
- (Preferred) Working with various cloud providers (AWS and GCP)
- (Preferred) Familiarity in working with cloud storage concepts (Block storage/Blob storage)
- (Preferred) Experience with job scheduling tools such as Airflow, Prefect Scheduler, and Slurm (or other HPC schedulers)
Location-Specific Focus Areas:
Your focus will vary depending on location, but most roles will centre around L3 support and specific projects, with opportunities to grow and specialise across different functions:
- Montreal: Database technologies, especially NoSQL databases like ClickHouse, along with tools such as Python and Git
- London: Middleware technologies, including Consul and Kafka, plus HPC infrastructure, focusing on Linux system tuning and schedulers like Slurm
- Singapore: Scheduling and observability, with a focus on tools like Airflow, Prefect, and Grafana/Prometheus
