Key Responsibilities
- Support the firm’s live global trading infrastructure, spanning multiple asset classes and regions (including US, European, and Middle Eastern markets)
- Monitor and manage the flow of trades throughout the day, providing first-line response for algo, exchange, and system issues
- Work closely with developers, trading teams, and infrastructure specialists to troubleshoot production problems, coordinate deployments, and ensure a clean market open
- Contribute to technical projects such as onboarding new markets, implementing exchange config changes, or enhancing internal tooling
- Serve as a key liaison with external counterparties - exchanges, brokers, and vendors
- Operate in a hybrid role split between real-time operations and technical project work - typically two intensive platform days and three project-focused days per week
- Participate in a rotating shift pattern (7am-5pm on active support days; flexible hours otherwise) and occasional paid weekend coverage (~1 in 7, with time off in lieu)
- Gradually build toward team leadership or mentoring responsibilities - those who demonstrate capability and curiosity are given real ownership quickly
What You Bring...
- 3+ years' experience in a live trading support, trade ops, or systems operations role within a financial services or trading environment
- Hands-on proficiency with Linux systems (command-line familiarity, process management, troubleshooting)
- Competent in Python scripting and SQL querying for log parsing, automation, or workflow support
- Understanding of order entry systems, market data feeds, and general exchange connectivity
- Strong understanding of the trading lifecycle - how signals, market data, and order routing interact within a trading system
- Familiarity with FIX protocol and native exchange interfaces
- Ability to explain your past project work clearly: how you contributed, what challenges you solved, and what impact you had
- Adaptability to handle live production pressure - whether manually intervening during a market event or leading the resolution of a time-critical outage
- Curiosity to dig below the surface and understand how things really work, not just configure and run them
- (Preferred) Experience with the Atlassian toolchain (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence), observability platforms (Elastic, Nagios), or internal support tooling
- (Preferred) Knowledge of timing and synchronisation protocols (e.g. PTP/NTP) and basic networking (e.g. TCP/IP, multicast)
