Key Responsibilities
- Develop, construct, and sustain the SQL and NoSQL database infrastructure, supporting a globally dispersed trading platform and extending to large-scale research
- Configure and optimise PostgreSQL and MySQL servers for critical, real-time trading workflows
- Analyse and enhance the performance of PostgreSQL and MySQL queries and supporting infrastructure on Debian Linux
- Revolutionise the metrics and alerting landscape using tools like Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana
- Design and implement Redis-based key/value stores for existing and future requirements
- Utilise infrastructure-as-code tools and services (such as Salt and Terraform) to streamline processes
- Build and assess proof of concept datastores to meet user requirements
What You Bring...
- 5+ years of experience in database management and infrastructure engineering
- Demonstrated expertise in creating and managing production database infrastructure, encompassing security, replication, and observability (monitoring, alerting, logging)
- Deep understanding of modern database technologies and their trade-offs, including distributed databases, time-series databases, relaxed consistency models, and columnar storage
- Experience with dynamic clustering solutions such as Patroni
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Linux, particularly Debian
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Proficient in programming with the ability to write Python, understanding data structures and software design principles
- Strong skills in performance troubleshooting and networking
- (Preferred) Familiarity with Redis, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana
