Our client, a prominent quantitative investment firm, is seeking a talented Data Engineer to play a crucial role in developing and managing their data engineering platform. This impactful position demands strong technical skills and a proven ability to collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, enabling seamless cooperation in processing, analysing, and managing a vast and varied corpus of datasets that power the firm's quantitative investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with quantitative researchers to understand data needs, deliver technical solutions, and integrate data engineering processes with quantitative strategies
  • Architect, build, and optimise robust data pipelines, facilitating ETL processes that underpin quantitative research, analysis, alpha forecasting, and execution
  • Implement stringent data quality assurance measures to guarantee precision, reliability, and consistency of data inputs and outputs
  • Assess, choose, and oversee appropriate data engineering tools, technologies, and infrastructure, prioritising scalability and automation
  • Collaborate with compliance and risk management teams to ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, enabling them to grasp the value and impact of specific data engineering initiatives

Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with prior experience at a quantitative hedge fund highly advantageous
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, big data technologies, SQL, and relational databases
  • Proven expertise in designing and optimising data pipelines, data modelling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data governance
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with quantitative researchers and other stakeholders, translating requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of analysing complex datasets, identifying patterns, and extracting insights
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adaptable to shifting priorities and emerging technologies
