[c. $250-350k Comp Package | On-Site Working for the First 3 Months]

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in maintaining and optimising a leading global market maker's trading systems? Our client, based in Chicago, is seeking a Senior Trading Support/Operations Engineer. This role will involve deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting trading infrastructure, ensuring the systems operate at peak performance. You will work closely with traders, development teams, and operations teams to enhance system stability and efficiency!

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy, maintain, and monitor proprietary trading applications
• Provide technical support to a high-frequency trading floor in a competitive market-making environment
• Develop fluency with existing systems and infrastructure, proactively seeking improvements
• Collaborate with development to set standards for the long-term health and stability of the trading environment
• Coordinate deployments of new trading products, systems, exchanges, and data centres
• Automate system management tools while maintaining firm human oversight

Key Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in managing day-to-day operations of software and hardware infrastructure
• Strong design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Expertise with operating systems, particularly Unix/Linux, and an understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols
• Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for automating tasks
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Ability to stay composed and thrive in high-pressure environments
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, able to explain thoughts, ask insightful questions, and challenge strategies when necessary
• Naturally curious about hardware and software interactions
• (Preferred) Prior experience in the trading industry
