Are you an experienced Windows Engineer looking to make a significant impact within a dynamic and fast-paced environment? Our client, a leading technology-driven trading firm, is seeking a Senior Windows Engineer to join their IT team. In this role, you will focus on enhancing the reliability of the Windows platform by engineering automation to address technical inefficiencies within on-premise and Azure infrastructure. This is a hands-on role that demands deep expertise in Windows systems, automation, and a proactive problem-solving approach!
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop PowerShell-based systems to automate operational tasks and improve the reliability of the Windows platform
- Implement configuration as code to streamline the management of Windows infrastructure and reduce operational overhead
- Leverage automation tools to identify and resolve technical inefficiencies in Windows endpoints, infrastructure, and Azure resources
- Design and operate monitoring and log aggregation systems to improve visibility and performance of the Windows environment
- Participate in ongoing engineering, maintenance, and support initiatives to continually enhance the Windows platform
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience as a Microsoft-based technology engineer
- Proven experience in implementing and configuring monitoring platforms within a Windows environment
- Hands-on experience with configuration as code platforms such as Salt, Ansible, or Microsoft DSC
- Expertise in configuring orchestration platforms like Jenkins to automate PowerShell processes
- Experience aggregating Windows event logs and flat file logs into systems such as the ELK stack or Splunk
- Familiarity with managing Veeam backups using code-based approaches
- Strong proficiency in developing and maintaining PowerShell-based systems
- A solid design approach that emphasises security best practices, business continuity, high availability, and scalability
