Job Description
[Up to c. £250k Comp Package | Hybrid Working]
Are you a facilities engineering expert who thrives where zero downtime isn’t just a goal - but a requirement? A leading global trading firm is looking for a technically sharp, operationally agile engineer to ensure the health, continuity, and growth of its mission-critical data centre infrastructure. This is a high-responsibility, hands-on role bridging technical engineering, data centre operations, and vendor management. You’ll take ownership of uptime while leading the design and delivery of fit-outs across new and existing colocation sites. With global scale, evolving infrastructure, and ultra-low-latency systems to support - your work will sit at the core of one of the most performance-driven environments in the industry!
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operational integrity and resilience of colocation and on-prem data centre environments, ensuring 24/7 uptime
- Act as a key point of contact between internal infrastructure teams and external colocation providers and vendors
- Manage and support new buildouts, capacity upgrades, and retrofits across critical sites globally
- Review, supervise, and improve SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs related to all critical systems
- Ensure proper commissioning of infrastructure and drive end-to-end project delivery for data centre expansions
- Audit infrastructure designs, maintenance routines, and vendor SLAs to align with engineering and operational risk standards
- Support BMS and EMS operations and ensure environmental and mechanical systems are aligned to performance thresholds
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical facility incidents as required
- Travel as needed (max c. 6 weeks annually) to oversee vendor operations and project milestones on-site
What You Bring...
- 4+ years' experience in data centre engineering, infrastructure project delivery, or critical facilities operations
- Deep understanding of MEP systems and equipment such as UPS, switchgear, PDUs, STS, generators, CRAC/CRAH units, and chillers
- Familiar with detection, suppression, and alerting systems including VESDA, BMS, pre-action, and other environmental controls
- Proven track record managing external data centre vendors and navigating colocation SLAs and site procedures
- High-level understanding of IT and hardware requirements within low-latency, always-on environments
- Exceptional communication skills – clear, concise, and confident in engaging both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Comfortable in high-urgency, high-accountability environments and available to work outside of normal hours when needed
- Willingness to travel internationally and participate in critical system on-call support
