Job Description

[c. Up to £250k Comp Package | Flexible Working Options]

Are you a systems-minded engineer with a passion for reliability at scale? Our client, a leading global trading firm at the heart of the digital asset revolution, is seeking a Global Site Reliability Engineer to scale, secure, and streamline their cloud-native infrastructure. This is a pivotal hands-on role - sitting across automation, performance engineering, and platform design - where you’ll support low-latency, highly available systems in a hybrid cloud and physical datacentre environment. From Kubernetes orchestration to high-performance messaging, this role is built for engineers who thrive in high-performance, mission-critical ecosystems...

Key Responsibilities

  • Automate infrastructure management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles - leveraging tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Administer and scale Kubernetes clusters across multiple regions, ensuring security, resilience, and container performance
  • Build and maintain GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines using tools like FluxCD or ArgoCD
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop observability and monitoring systems that reduce incident response time
  • Optimise Linux systems for performance-tuning networking, kernel settings, and system resources for latency-sensitive environments
  • Operate and tune high-throughput messaging platforms including Kafka, Aeron, and multicast networks
  • Implement robust DR and backup strategies across cloud and physical infrastructure
  • Support database operations for MySQL and MongoDB, including configuration, replication, and version-controlled schema management

What You Bring...

  • 3+ years of experience managing and supporting distributed infrastructure in a production environment
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes administration, container security, and orchestration at scale
  • Fluency in Python, Golang, or Rust with hands-on experience in automating infrastructure workflows
  • Deep knowledge of Linux systems internals, including namespaces, cgroups, performance tuning, and service discovery
  • Proficiency in networking (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, DNS) and diagnosing system-level performance bottlenecks
  • Solid experience designing CI/CD pipelines and deploying configuration using GitOps tools
  • Strong foundation in database operations (MySQL, MongoDB), and version control tooling such as Flyway or Liquibase
  • (Preferred) Experience with multicast protocols, high-performance computing, or latency-critical systems
  • (Preferred) Background in financial markets, cryptocurrency, or electronic trading platforms
