Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer
Job Description
[Up to c. £215k Comp Package | On-Site Working]
We’re supporting a world-class algorithmic trading firm scaling its infrastructure operations in London. With thousands of servers powering global low-latency trading and AI research, they’ve invested heavily in both traditional colocation and next-gen GPU data centres - and are now hiring a senior engineer to take ownership of deployment and operations across Europe and North America. Joining a lean, high-trust team, you’ll work hands-on with physical infrastructure - from servers and switches to fibre and power - while playing a key role in hardware strategy, remote site management, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate blends strong data centre experience with a working knowledge of Linux and networking...
Key Responsibilities
- Lead deployment projects across colocation sites - from server builds and switch installs to cable management and cross-connects
- Manage inventory and global logistics for infrastructure rollouts, including international shipping and customs processes
- Oversee structured cabling, rack layouts, power allocation, and cooling management across DCs
- Maintain and upgrade equipment - from replacing failed components to troubleshooting transceiver or cabling faults
- Liaise with support vendors and contractors for on-site work, diagnostics, and repairs
- Carry out server integration tasks (e.g., PCIe installations, power testing) and verify hardware readiness
- Contribute to platform planning - offering input on hardware specs, environmental requirements, and long-term scalability
What You Bring…
- Extensive experience in data centre engineering or infrastructure deployment, ideally in fast-paced or high-availability environments
- Strong hands-on skills with physical networking - including fibre types, transceivers, SFPs, and structured cabling standards
- Comfortable performing upgrades, diagnostics, and hardware integration on servers
- Experience in hybrid roles combining data centre and networking responsibilities
- Sound understanding of Linux and basic networking (TCP/IP, command-line tools, remote access)
- Familiar with shipping processes, customs requirements, and international logistics
- Experience supporting low-latency or GPU-accelerated environments
- Interest in process improvement, automation, or infrastructure tooling
- Willingness to work flexible schedules when needed, including occasional weekends (with time off in lieu)
- (Preferred) Familiarity with optical networking and fault isolation practices
- (Preferred) Previous involvement in server platform design, component selection, or rack-level planning
