Role Overview
We’re representing a leading quantitative trading firm operating in the digital assets space, now hiring a Senior Linux Infrastructure Admin/Engineer to help evolve and maintain its high-performance compute estate. This position focuses on the resilience, scalability, and automation of both on-premise and cloud-based environments supporting low-latency trading and quantitative research. You’ll be part of a technically strong engineering group responsible for ensuring mission-critical systems remain stable, efficient, and secure. This is a hands-on role involving deep work across Linux, automation, and distributed systems - a position for engineers who enjoy tackling complex performance and reliability challenges at scale...
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance Linux-based server infrastructure, optimising performance across trading, research, and analytics platforms
- Administer and scale hybrid compute environments, covering on-prem clusters (e.g. HTCondor) and AWS-hosted workloads
- Build automation pipelines to manage configuration, provisioning, and lifecycle operations using Python, Bash, or Ansible
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues across compute, storage, and network layers to ensure high availability
- Strengthen security and compliance across the environment, applying consistent controls for patching, hardening, and access governance
- Develop and maintain operational documentation and scripts for disaster recovery and maintenance procedures
- Collaborate with software developers, researchers, and trading teams to design infrastructure that aligns with business priorities
- Apply observability practices to monitor utilisation, latency, and overall system health, driving proactive improvement
What You’ll Bring...
- 4-12 years’ experience in Linux systems engineering or administration, ideally within performance-critical or trading environments
- Proficiency working with RHEL or Rocky Linux, with expertise in configuration, optimisation, and kernel-level troubleshooting
- Solid background in automation and scripting, particularly with Python, Bash, or Ansible
- Strong understanding of hybrid infrastructure spanning on-prem and public cloud platforms (AWS experience preferred)
- Knowledge of network fundamentals - including routing, packet capture, and latency optimisation
- Practical experience implementing security best practices around identity, access, and system integrity
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks to maintain visibility across infrastructure performance
- (Preferred) Exposure to HTCondor or similar distributed compute frameworks
- (Preferred) Experience supporting real-time, low-latency, or HPC trading environments
