Role Overview

We’re representing a globally recognised investment management firm renowned for its data-driven culture and commitment to world-class engineering. As part of continued innovation within the Infrastructure & Platform Services function, the firm is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to shape and evolve its cloud ecosystem. This hands-on position will see you designing, building, and optimising large-scale cloud environments that power complex trading and research systems. You’ll be deeply involved in architecture discussions, automation initiatives, and platform design - ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence...

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of public cloud environments, ensuring resilience, performance, and security
  • Act as a technical mentor for less experienced team members, helping shape best practices and internal standards
  • Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to translate technical and operational requirements into scalable cloud solutions
  • Design and implement automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Python and Terraform
  • Build self-service capabilities to accelerate access to cloud services and streamline deployment workflows
  • Ensure a consistent user experience across on-premise and cloud systems, driving interoperability and standardisation
  • Support and optimise Kubernetes-based application environments, including cluster management, deployment pipelines, and monitoring
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, architecture artefacts, and technical guidance for cloud environments
  • Champion cloud adoption and continuous improvement by staying abreast of emerging cloud technologies and service offerings
  • Participate in out-of-hours rotations as part of maintaining a highly available production environment

What You’ll Bring...

  • 6+ years’ experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale cloud environments (AWS preferred, with exposure to Azure a plus)
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent tooling
  • Advanced understanding of cloud-native services including compute, networking, storage, and identity management
  • Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE), including security, upgrades, and workload orchestration
  • Proficiency with Python or Bash scripting for automation, CI/CD, and configuration management
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux systems administration, ideally RHEL-based distributions
  • Broad experience in hybrid networking, including VPNs, load balancing, routing, and security principles
  • Strong background in container technologies such as Docker or Podman
  • Awareness of FinOps principles, with a focus on cost efficiency and cloud utilisation optimisation
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, OpenTelemetry)
  • Knowledge of backup, DR, and business continuity best practices within cloud and hybrid environments
  • (Preferred) Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
  • (Preferred) Experience supporting AI/ML or HPC workloads within a cloud context
  • (Preferred) Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Kubernetes CKA/CKAD
