This is a fantastic opportunity with an innovative DeFi firm who are paving the way for mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. Their Cloud Engineering team operates the microservices which powers their greenfield app and digital asset exchange, applying the best of SRE principles to everything they do. Automation is key in this world and will be a constant focus, minimising toil.

To be successful in this role, you will be a natural technical leader within your discipline, comfortable working autonomously as you strive to find, invent, and deploy new ways to improve systems. You must be able to own substantial parts of their tech stack, delivering on large projects like a CI/CD pipeline or monitoring stack, from conception to operation. Many of this company’s third-party systems are not as cloud-ready as they are. You’ll help design, deploy and develop integrations entirely on the cloud and abstract the complexities of networking, security and routing from the product engineers to enable them to focus on building the best services for customers. Familiarity with systems engineering, particularly networking concepts, in a non-cloud context will help you map these concepts to the cloud and work with external vendors to build highly reliable integrations.

Technical Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Running high-scale production systems, entirely on the cloud
  • Managing on-call rotas and teams
  • Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine
  • Terraform at scale
    Programming, ideally in Go
  • Exposure to many other cloud-native technologies, including experience with observability tooling, managing SLOs/SLAs
  • Istio Service Mesh
  • Relational database technology (Postgres)
  • Distributed systems architectures, the types of failure modes associated with them, and common mitigations
  • Industry accepted cybersecurity good practice, including secure-by-design implementation approaches, incident detection, monitoring and remediation
  • An understanding of low-level systems concepts including DNS, Unix operating systems and computer networking fundamentals will be very useful. A solid theoretical understanding of computer science, e.g. algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and database theory, will also be to your advantage.
