Job Description

This global markets exchange requires an exceptional Data Centre Engineer to join their team in-and-close-to London. In this position, you can expect responsibilities such as:

• DC operations, equipment installations and other changes
• Hardware maintenance swap out and work with vendors to replace faulty components
• Support Network and Systems engineers with DC work as needed
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation
• Work with other engineers and on delivering various projects to the right standard
• Help managed and plan DC based projects as required
• Carry out extensive fibre testing and process the results

Technical Experience and Qualifications Required:

• Experience doing data centre work, equipment and cabling installations
• Strong familiarity with fibre based cabling standards and installations
• Rigours and detailed oriented approach to complicated tasks
• Experience doing server configuration via ILO or similar
• Understanding of network equipment and protocol fundamentals
• Good working knowledge of Linux & Windows operating systems and using troubleshooting tools
• Analytical problem solver, plans and prioritises to work efficiently
• Self-starter, able to take on projects, plan and manage time, delivery and expectations
• Able to work out of hours and in some case on weekends as needed
• Able to use ticketing systems consistently and follow defined standards
• Knowledge of change control systems and related working restrictions

Desirable, non-essential skills:

• Familiarity with change control systems and related working restrictions
• Experience managing projects and working with multiple stakeholders
• Able to keep multiple plates spinning and maintain control over larger projects
• Knows what good looks like, has a culture of excellence and improvement
• Experience of dealing with multiple suppliers and vendors
• Experience of troubleshooting fibre and copper cabling systems and using appropriate test equipment
• Knowledge of hardware and software issues related to DC work
