Must have experience in:

- Building rich data-driven web-based geospatial/GIS/mapping databases & analytical applications

- Strong mobile application development

- Strong cloud/microservices architecture expertise with data modelling and full-stack development

- Strong expertise around JavaScript tools/libraries, React UI framework, web services/APIs, Python (& data analysis tools/libraries), databases

- A knowledge or interest in Biomass/Bioenergy applications or fields would naturally be an advantage. There is the opportunity to take up full-time employment for the right candidate, equally there will be a requirement for rolling support and product enhancements

This is a 3-6 month consultancy assignment to build a data-driven software product in the Biomass/Bioenergy field, specifically aimed (at least initially) on datasets within Spain. The application will be used to identify and analyse potential markets, optimising transportation costs, and calculating availability, all using geospatially collated data. A working pilot project exists; however, we are looking for an experienced developer to build an MVP and support the fully productionised, sustainable, user-friendly tool. A proposed data model for reference data for the UX is offered, along with lists of data sources.

Initial key deliverables include:

- Architecture diagrams (Cloud build/deployment, Security, API/User audit & logging, Costs across Dev/UAT/Production, Availability/99% SLO/Key user journeys, low friction API/pattern integration for geographical expansion, effective SDLC)

- Selection of technology stack (and explanation to stakeholders)

- Costing of phased product build

- Clarification and explanation of proposed automated testing

Key points of design/build:

- Cloud/Microservice architecture, with automated IaC, CI/CD pipeline & alerting/monitoring of solution in production

- Web browser access for management analysis/reporting, and via mobile device for remote users to input & amend datasets

Initial features must include:

- SSO (Microsoft)

- Homepage

- Interactive map (including rich heat maps, geolocational distribution and travel distance/time data (& calculations), along with table of outputs)

Functionality will then be extended to include:

- Additional location-based data points

- Isochrone calculation metrics/fields

- Additional outputs & calculations

- Ability to override existing data points

- Additional manual field/data input page/s
