[c. $200-325k Comp Package (or equivalent), Hybrid Working - 3 Days in Office]

We are seeking a Linux Engineer for our client, a top-tier quant trading firm. This role is crucial in managing and enhancing the infrastructure vital to the firm's technology operations. As part of the Systems Engineering team, you will be involved in administration, programming, and the evolution of the platform supporting the trading systems. Your contributions will drive automation, efficiency, and innovation in an environment that prioritises continuous learning and development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, improve, and potentially transform the platform for production trading systems
  • Work with a mix of in-house and open-source systems, focusing on troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Develop deployment automation and scalable configuration management projects
  • Implement obsessive monitoring and automate work processes to reduce error rates and workloads
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in trading, technology, and operations to address and resolve issues, designing long-term solutions
  • Engage in hardware to software aspects, from research to development, and testing to production


Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another technical field preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience within the financial services sector
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to efficiently analyse and deconstruct technical problems
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and a strong foundation in common network technologies
  • Comfort with command-line work, including scripting in Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl
  • Programming experience in any language, with a preference for functional languages
  • Interest in learning OCaml (no prior experience necessary)
