Job Description

In order to capitalise on their continued growth, our client, an international financial services company that builds and operates OTC marketplaces, is seeking an Information Security Engineer. As a senior member of the Information Security team, this role will be taking a lead in engineering various security solutions and managing the implementation of security technologies for enterprise technology. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in multiple domains of security and should be able to design and implement high impacting solutions across the organisation. The role will also have an opportunity to work with subject matter experts not only within security, but across infrastructure, network, development, and business teams. They need someone who has business experience in the financial industry, who can meet with internal and external clients and talk confidently about their cyber security program, and can help integrate their business needs with cyber security needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high impact security architecture using modern security technologies for a highly complex trading environment
  • Serve as an internal information security advisor and subject matter expert on network security infrastructure
  • Review network infrastructure, identify gaps, and develop solutions to reduce the threat profile
  • Review security policies across multiple systems and networks for risk and compliance
  • Proactively research and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of security posture
  • Support incident response functions including leading network efforts to investigate security incidents, participating in tabletop exercises, development of playbooks and technical runbooks
  • Understand the common types of cyber-attacks and countermeasures in the industry and engage in remediation activities
  • Lead product selection efforts, including defining evaluation criteria and test plans
  • Introduce best practices and principles to enable consistent delivery and enable alignment with long-term direction
  • Collaborate with business units and corporate partners to ensure solutions are built consistently with the organisation's policies, programs, architectural recommendations, and information security standards
  • Create and maintain technical process documentation (procedures and playbooks)
  • Set goals and manage simultaneous projects, be part of troubleshooting and react to system/network security incidents
  • Develop, build, and implement a mature and robust set of metrics and reports

Technical Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • 10+ years of technical experience in the information technology or information security fields
  • At least 5+ years of experience in systems and network security
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, routing and switching, networking)
  • Deep knowledge of security engineering, systems and network security, authentication and security protocols
  • Experience with next-generation firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet), intrusion detection/prevention systems, DDOS mitigation technologies, WAF, Load Balancers
  • Analysing/implementing best-practice configuration standards for network devices
  • Threat hunting, security investigations and incident response
  • Understanding of various attack techniques, frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK) and threat actors
  • Knowledge of web proxies and web application firewalls
  • VPN technologies, PKI, and TLS
  • Security industry standards and best practices – NIST, CSA, CIS etc.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP and Azure) is preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking, deductive reasoning, prioritisation, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with managing projects, with the skills to prioritise projects and tasks to meet deadlines
  • CISSP, CISM or equivalent qualifications preferred
