Role Overview

We’re partnered with a leading global investment firm looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in their core infrastructure team. You’ll be the go-to expert for Linux systems and VMware environments, driving automation, optimising performance, and ensuring reliability across on-prem, virtual, and hybrid platforms. Key Responsibilities

• Administer, tune, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux platforms (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu) to ensure stability, performance, and security
• Manage and enhance VMware infrastructure including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and vSphere, implementing HA and DR best practices
• Develop automation workflows in Python (object-oriented) and shell to streamline operations and reduce manual effort
• Use Terraform and other IaC tools to provision and manage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud platforms
• Maintain configuration management processes, ideally using SaltStack or Ansible
• Support enterprise storage systems (block and file), ensuring resilience and efficient performance
• Operate and maintain on-prem Kubernetes clusters for containerised workloads
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions, carrying out proactive performance checks
• Integrate automated processes into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with development teams
• Participate in an on-call rotation to respond rapidly to critical issues

What You’ll Bring...

• 5-8 years’ experience in Linux systems administration within complex enterprise environments
• Strong VMware administration background with ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere expertise
• Advanced scripting and automation skills in Python and shell scripting
• Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve infrastructure issues under pressure
• Experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
• Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional technical teams
• (Preferred) Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
• (Preferred) SaltStack or Ansible for configuration management
• (Preferred) Exposure to Docker, Helm, or other container orchestration platforms
