Role Overview
We are working with a leading quantitative trading firm looking for an experienced Windows engineer to help run, improve and automate a global Windows estate across desktop, server, physical and virtual infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role within a highly technical IT engineering group, supporting business-critical systems used across trading, research, technology and operations. You will work closely with global colleagues to improve reliability, simplify operations and build better tooling around Windows infrastructure...
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, maintain and improve Windows desktop and server infrastructure across a global environment
- Automate deployment, configuration, monitoring and operational workflows using PowerShell or another programming/scripting language
- Own improvements across Active Directory, Kerberos, DNS, Group Policy and related Microsoft infrastructure services
- Troubleshoot complex Windows OS, application, hardware and infrastructure issues in a fast-moving environment
- Plan, test and execute infrastructure changes, upgrades and deployments
- Work with engineering, trading, operations and international office teams to identify problems and deliver practical improvements
- Maintain clear documentation, change records and technical handover notes
- Contribute to standardisation, reliability and performance across physical and virtual Windows platforms
What You’ll Bring…
- Around 4+ years of hands-on Windows infrastructure engineering across server, desktop or enterprise platform environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and/or Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022
- Deep practical experience with Active Directory, Kerberos, DNS and Group Policy
- Strong PowerShell automation skills, ideally with experience building reusable tooling rather than one-off admin scripts
- Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, applications and infrastructure services under pressure
- Understanding of hardware monitoring, system performance and physical or virtual infrastructure behaviour
- Clear communication style, strong documentation habits and the ability to support highly technical internal users
- Collaborative, reliable and comfortable working across global teams in a high-calibre engineering environment
- (Preferred) Experience scripting or programming in Python, C#, F# or another structured language
