Job Description

[Up to c. $450k Comp Package (or equivalent) | Office-Led Working]

Role Overview

We’re representing a leading quantitative trading firm with a global technology footprint across major financial markets. The business relies on highly resilient, performance-sensitive infrastructure to support trading, research, office connectivity and distributed systems at scale. This is a senior engineering role within the global network team, focused on designing, scaling and improving complex multi-vendor network environments. You’ll work across data centre builds, colocation connectivity, WAN design, routing optimisation, automation and operational tooling, with a strong emphasis on reliability, documentation and continuous improvement.

The role is well suited to someone who combines deep networking fundamentals with a strong engineering mindset - someone comfortable working close to Linux, automation, scripting and emerging AI/ML-led approaches to improving network operations...

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and improve global network infrastructure across trading, data centre, office and colocation environments
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, trading and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable network solutions
  • Lead routing, WAN, data centre and connectivity improvements across a highly available multi-vendor estate
  • Support critical production environments while driving longer-term improvements to reduce operational risk and improve troubleshooting
  • Build, maintain and improve automation workflows to simplify repetitive tasks and improve consistency across the network estate
  • Explore practical uses of AI/ML tooling to improve observability, operations, documentation and service quality
  • Produce clear, detailed documentation that supports faster troubleshooting, stronger knowledge sharing and better team efficiency
  • Troubleshoot complex network and transport-layer issues across protocols, devices and distributed systems
  • Work closely with global teams to maintain high standards for performance, resilience and reliability

What You’ll Bring…

  • 7-12 years’ experience operating, supporting and deploying complex network infrastructure, including 3+ years designing networks from the ground up
  • Strong routing and protocol knowledge across BGP, OSPF, PIM-SM and TCP/UDP
  • Hands-on experience across large-scale LAN, WAN, data centre or colocation environments
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments and using the command line to investigate, troubleshoot and operate systems
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, ideally Python, Bash or similar
  • Experience with monitoring, observability or configuration management tooling such as Ansible, Salt, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana or ELK
  • Strong bias towards automation, standardisation and reducing manual operational overhead
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, high-stakes technical environment
  • High ownership, strong judgement and a practical approach to solving complex technical problems
  • (Preferred) Experience with overlay networking such as EVPN or VXLAN
  • (Preferred) Exposure to low-latency, trading, market data, HPC, AI infrastructure or other performance-sensitive environments
