Role Overview
We’re representing a leading quantitative trading firm looking for a Production Engineer to support, improve and build software systems at the centre of its trading environment across Singapore and Hong Kong. This is a hybrid software engineering and production ownership role. You’ll split your time between building internal tools, improving critical systems and working directly on live production issues where speed, clarity and judgement matter.
The environment is highly technical, collaborative and intellectually demanding. Prior financial services experience is not required, but the engineering bar is high. You’ll need to be a strong programmer with excellent coding and scripting ability, strong debugging instincts and a genuine interest in understanding how complex systems behave in production. Key Responsibilities
- Build and improve software tools used to monitor, support and operate production trading systems
- Work closely with application developers and business-facing teams to understand system behaviour and production impact
- Investigate, debug and resolve live issues across critical software platforms
- Take ownership of reliability, supportability and operational improvement across complex systems
- Contribute to architecture and design decisions for systems that support trading activity
- Reduce recurring production issues through better tooling, automation, documentation and observability
- Coordinate calmly with technical and non-technical stakeholders during production incidents
- Develop a broad understanding of how trading systems, internal tools and business workflows connect
What You’ll Bring…
- 3+ years’ professional software engineering experience, ideally building or supporting production-grade systems
- Strong programming ability, with excellent coding, scripting and debugging skills
- Exposure to functional programming, OCaml, Haskell, F#, Scala or similar
- Ability to read, write and reason about complex code in a high-calibre engineering environment
- Experience building tools, automation or internal systems that improve reliability, visibility or operational efficiency
- Clear, calm communication style during live production issues or ambiguous technical incidents
- Strong curiosity across systems, with the ability to learn quickly and understand how different platforms connect
- Fluency in English
- (Preferred) Experience in trading, financial markets, fintech, SRE, production engineering or distributed systems
