Our client, a diversified trading firm with over 3 decades of experience, is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join their Unified Platform Support team. The successful candidate will work closely with developers to provide sophisticated research and compliance tools to users across the firm. This role is ideal for technically minded members of support teams who want the freedom to dig deeper into issues and code.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate key parts of a sophisticated data analysis pipeline
• Monitor and troubleshoot production jobs
• Investigate data-related issues raised by the system, including looking into the code
• Consult with developers to determine appropriate courses of action and suggest improvements
• Provide L1 and L2 support for users and collaborate with developers on L3 support
• Onboard support processes for new development teams and applications as the team expands

Key Requirements:

• 3+ years experience supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting high-performance applications in the financial markets industry
• Experience supporting Linux environments and working with market data or order data systems
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with transfer protocols for financial data (FIX, native protocols)
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming, with a primary focus on Java, including experience in Java debugging - familiarity with Python is also desirable
• Familiarity with version control software (git or svn) and cloud computing (AWS preferred)
• SQL experience, including queries, updates, table creation, and basic database maintenance
• Ability to debug Java code and raise issues with the software engineering team
