Are you a skilled Trade Application/Flow Support Engineer with a strong grasp of global trading operations? Join a leading technology-driven investment firm where you’ll ensure the stability and performance of real-time trading systems, supporting both pre- and post-trade flows. You’ll work closely with front-office teams, troubleshoot live issues, and drive efficiency through automation. This is a hands-on role with plenty of progression opportunities - including lateral movement into other technical areas - and the potential to step into a deputy team lead position within 12-18 months...
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain stability and operational readiness of global trading platforms across pre- and post-trade flows
- Monitor and troubleshoot real-time trade execution issues across systems and regions
- Act as the first line of support for traders, operations, and external brokers/exchanges
- Manage application deployments, server patching, and environment configuration
- Investigate workflow issues and drive efficiency through automation and scripting
- Operate within a rotating shift pattern (7am-4pm or 10am-7pm), with paid weekend coverage approx. once every 7 weeks, including days off in lieu
What You Bring
- 4-8 years of production support experience within a trading or financial systems environment
- Strong Linux systems knowledge, with practical troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Bash and Python (or similar) for scripting and automation
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write and optimise queries across relational databases; experience with kdb+ is a welcome bonus
- Familiarity with FIX protocol and experience interacting with market venues or native exchange protocols
- Clear, effective communicator able to handle high-pressure situations and stakeholder demands
- (Preferred) Experience with multicast and PTP/NTP
- (Preferred) Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Elastic) and the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
- (Preferred) Exposure to ITIL processes or structured incident management
