Role Overview

We’re partnering with a leading multi-strategy investment firm that is continuing to modernise and scale its global technology estate. As part of this growth, the firm is hiring a senior-level cloud engineer to play a key role in shaping how public cloud platforms are designed, delivered, and operated across the business. This is a hands-on engineering role within a platform-focused infrastructure group, sitting at the intersection of cloud architecture, automation, and developer enablement. You’ll work closely with application engineers, infrastructure teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver a consistent, secure, and highly automated cloud environment that supports front-office and enterprise workloads...

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, evolve, and operate scalable public cloud environments that support production-grade applications and data workloads
  • Act as a senior technical contributor and mentor within the cloud engineering function, helping raise engineering standards and best practices
  • Partner with developers and platform teams to translate application and business requirements into well-architected cloud solutions
  • Build and maintain infrastructure using code-first approaches, with automation and repeatability as default principles
  • Develop internal self-service tooling and workflows that enable teams to provision and manage cloud resources efficiently
  • Ensure cloud services integrate cleanly with on-premise systems, delivering a seamless hybrid experience
  • Support container-based platforms, including cluster lifecycle management, application deployment, and platform security
  • Embed observability, reliability, and resilience into cloud-hosted systems through monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling
  • Contribute to cloud security and governance efforts, ensuring environments meet internal standards and regulatory expectations
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting critical systems and driving continuous operational improvement

What You’ll Bring…

  • 6-10 years of experience building and operating large-scale infrastructure, with a significant focus on public cloud platforms
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS (Azure exposure beneficial), including core compute, networking, storage, and managed services
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, with a track record of designing maintainable, production-ready environments
  • Solid experience running container platforms in production, including Kubernetes cluster build-out, upgrades, and workload management
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting using languages such as Python and/or Bash
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible
  • Strong Linux systems knowledge, particularly in enterprise or RHEL-based environments
  • A clear understanding of cloud-native security concepts, including identity, network segmentation, and workload protection
  • Experience working in hybrid environments where cloud and on-prem infrastructure must interoperate cleanly
  • Exposure to CI/CD tooling and modern delivery pipelines
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex systems methodically and communicate solutions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • (Preferred) Experience applying FinOps principles or optimising cloud cost at scale
  • (Preferred) Experience supporting data, analytics, or AI/ML workloads in cloud environments
  • (Preferred) Relevant cloud or Kubernetes certifications
