The Equity Research Technology function designs and builds the systems that sit at the heart of its investment process - enabling portfolio managers and analysts to generate insights, evaluate performance, and uncover new opportunities. This role sits within a fast-paced front office engineering team that blends the energy of a product-driven software group with the precision of quantitative research. Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and optimise software tools that power equity research, modelling, and portfolio analytics
- Build and maintain service-oriented applications in C# (preferred) or Java, integrating seamlessly with research and trading systems
- Collaborate closely with front office users to capture requirements and translate investment needs into robust, high-performance applications
- Contribute to modern front-end applications using React or similar frameworks, ensuring an intuitive and responsive user experience
- Develop and enhance RESTful APIs and middleware layers to connect research platforms, data stores, and reporting systems
- Work alongside other engineers to maintain clean architecture, scalable data flows, and sound design principles across the stack
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and roadmap planning to ensure quality, maintainability, and operational stability
- Drive continuous improvement in development pipelines through testing, performance tuning, and CI/CD automation
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or modernise existing workflows to support faster delivery and greater reliability
What You’ll Bring...
- 7-12 years’ experience building production systems in C# or .NET, in financial or trading technology environments
- Strong understanding of front office software design, with exposure to research, risk, or portfolio analytics systems
- Competence across both backend and frontend technologies, ideally 75/25 weighted toward backend development
- Hands-on experience with React or similar modern front-end frameworks
- Solid database expertise in SQL Server, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning
- Experience developing and integrating REST APIs, with solid understanding of authentication, testing, and version control best practices
- Effective communicator who can engage with investment professionals and cross-functional technical teams
- Exposure to Python for analytics or workflow scripting
- (Preferred) Experience with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or similar market data integrations
- (Preferred) Familiarity with modern AI/LLM tools such as LangChain, OpenAI API, or Llama
