Role Overview
We’re supporting a globally respected technology-driven investment firm seeking an engineer who can bridge modern AI systems with real business workflows. This role sits at the forefront of the firm’s applied AI efforts, designing and shipping agentic tools, bespoke AI applications, and foundational components that will reshape how teams research, analyse, collaborate, and make decisions. You’ll work directly with internal stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains, taking greenfield concepts from prototype to production. This is an opportunity to influence internal AI strategy while building systems that materially improve how the organisation operates day to day. Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of greenfield AI initiatives - scoping requirements, shaping system design, prototyping rapidly, and guiding projects into production
- Evaluate emerging model capabilities and toolchains; integrate them into internal platforms where they offer genuine value
- Partner with teams across the business to design and deliver custom AI applications and agent-based systems tailored to specific operational, analytical, or workflow challenges
- Build and maintain core components that underpin the firm’s AI ecosystem, including reusable agent “skills,” retrieval frameworks, orchestration logic, and shared libraries
- Contribute to the design and operation of internal AI infrastructure, ensuring stable integration with data sources, model-hosting environments, and development tooling
- Establish best practices and engineering patterns for scaling AI adoption - creating frameworks, templates, and reference architectures used by teams across the organisation
- Promote a culture of experimentation, innovation, and responsible AI deployment, ensuring solutions remain robust, adaptable, and aligned with business objectives
What You’ll Bring…
- A strong software engineering foundation, with proven experience (6+ years) designing, building, and scaling AI-enabled products, systems, or frameworks
- Solid understanding of modern AI technologies, including LLMs, embeddings, retrieval techniques, agentic workflows, and evaluation methodologies
- Ability to take loosely defined problems, work directly with stakeholders, and transform them into well-designed, production-ready systems
- Demonstrated strength in high-performance or entrepreneurial environments, with a track record of driving projects from concept to completion
- A strong academic background or equivalent professional achievements that reflect analytical depth and technical creativity
- Openness to working across disciplines and tackling problems outside one’s immediate area of expertise
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially when explaining complex technical approaches to non-technical audiences
