Job Description

[Up to c. $350k Comp Package | Hybrid/Remote Working Options (Tri-State Area Preferred)

Role Overview

We’re partnering with a global electronic trading organisation whose technology underpins some of the most active and performance-sensitive markets in the world. As trading volumes and platform complexity continue to scale, the firm is investing in senior infrastructure talent to strengthen the foundations of its storage estate. This role represents a foundational hire within the Infrastructure group. While storage capability exists today, there is no standalone storage function - meaning this position carries real ownership. You’ll operate as the senior authority for storage engineering, reporting directly into the Global Head of Infrastructure and shaping how storage platforms are designed, automated, and operated going forward. The focus is on robust engineering, automation, and performance, not vendor babysitting. You’ll work closely with application, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure storage systems meet demanding throughput, latency, resilience, and recovery requirements across a global trading environment...

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and evolve enterprise-grade storage platforms spanning SAN, NAS, object, and backup technologies
  • Act as the senior technical owner for storage performance, availability, replication, and data protection across the estate
  • Partner with database and application teams to diagnose performance bottlenecks and optimise storage behaviour end-to-end
  • Design and implement automation for provisioning, replication, failover, reporting, and compliance validation
  • Monitor and analyse capacity, latency, throughput, and fabric-level behaviour, driving proactive improvements
  • Lead complex investigations into storage or fabric incidents, providing tier-3 expertise and durable remediation
  • Contribute to architectural decisions around scalability, cost optimisation, and future platform direction
  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering architecture, operational procedures, and recovery models
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems when required

What You’ll Bring…

  • 8+ years’ experience designing and operating enterprise storage platforms in large-scale production environments (low-latency familiarity preferred)
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of modern storage systems (e.g. Pure, Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi or equivalent platforms)
  • Solid systems knowledge across Linux and Windows, particularly as it relates to storage and I/O behaviour
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols and fabrics including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, and object storage
  • Proven ability to reason about performance using metrics such as IOPS, latency, throughput, and queue depth
  • A clear automation-first mindset, with experience reducing operational toil through scripting and tooling
  • Experience designing and operating backup, snapshot, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Methodical troubleshooting skills and confidence operating as a senior escalation point
  • Clear communication style and the ability to work effectively across infrastructure, application, and database teams
  • (Preferred) Hands-on exposure to backup and recovery platforms such as Rubrik or Veeam
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with hybrid or cloud-adjacent storage architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • (Preferred) Working knowledge of encryption, data protection, and storage-level security controls
