Senior Hardware Sourcing & Category Manager (Data Centre Infrastructure)
Job Description
[Up to c. $250k Comp Package | Likely On-Site Working]
Role Overview
We’re partnering with a leading quantitative trading firm as it continues to scale its global compute and data centre footprint. To support this growth, the firm is hiring a senior individual contributor to take ownership of hardware sourcing strategy across critical infrastructure categories. This role sits at the intersection of procurement, engineering, and data centre operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the business can secure the right infrastructure - compute, networking, storage, and supporting systems - at the right time and under the right commercial terms.
Rather than a traditional procurement position, this is a technical category ownership role. You will work closely with engineering, platform, and data centre teams to translate complex requirements into sourcing strategies, while building and managing meaningful relationships across OEMs, VARs, and infrastructure vendors. The position requires someone commercially sharp, technically credible, and comfortable operating hands-on in a fast-moving, high-performance environment...
Key Responsibilities
- Own sourcing strategy for data centre and compute infrastructure categories, including servers, networking, storage, and supporting systems
- Partner directly with engineering, platform, and data centre teams to understand infrastructure requirements and upcoming demand
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including supplier evaluation, competitive bidding, and contract negotiation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, VARs, and infrastructure providers
- Negotiate commercial agreements covering pricing, supply allocation, lead times, and lifecycle support
- Provide market insight into hardware availability, pricing trends, and supplier dynamics
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance, legal, and operations to finalise commercial structures
- Support delivery planning by aligning procurement timelines with deployment schedules and capacity needs
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring delivery quality, consistency, and adherence to agreed terms
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, supplier consolidation, and strategic purchasing approaches
- Contribute to longer-term sourcing strategy as infrastructure demand continues to scale globally
What You’ll Bring…
- 7-12 years’ experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management within infrastructure or hardware-focused environments
- Proven ownership of a hardware or infrastructure category (not purely procurement operations)
- Strong experience sourcing data centre or enterprise compute infrastructure, including servers, networking, storage, or related systems
- Established relationships across OEMs, VARs, or infrastructure vendors
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements and supplier terms
- Experience working closely with technical stakeholders (engineering, platform, or data centre teams)
- Strong commercial acumen combined with the ability to understand technical requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- (Preferred) Exposure to high-performance or compute-intensive environments (e.g. trading, HPC, large-scale infrastructure)
- (Preferred) Familiarity with GPU-based systems or dense compute environments
- (Preferred) Understanding of data centre infrastructure considerations such as power, cooling, or capacity planning
