Role Overview
We’re representing a world-leading computational research organisation operating at the intersection of high-performance computing, machine learning, and scientific discovery. As AI adoption accelerates internally, they are seeking a Security Engineer to help define and implement security practices around next-generation AI systems - with a particular emphasis on agent-based and autonomous workflows. This role will focus on strengthening the organisation’s overall security posture while addressing the unique challenges introduced by AI-driven systems, including orchestration layers, automated decision-making pipelines, and large-scale compute environments. You will operate in a highly technical setting, working closely with researchers, engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure security is embedded into both traditional systems and emerging AI workflows from the ground up...
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enhance security practices across infrastructure, applications, and AI-driven systems
- Identify and remediate vulnerabilities across a diverse technology estate, including high-performance compute environments
- Develop automation to improve detection, response, and remediation of security issues
- Secure agent-based AI workflows, including orchestration layers and autonomous system interactions
- Contribute to threat detection and response capabilities across endpoints and internal systems
- Support vulnerability management processes, including identification, prioritisation, and remediation tracking
- Partner with engineering and research teams to embed security into development and deployment workflows
- Evaluate security tooling and implement improvements to strengthen overall defensive capabilities
- Assist in defining security standards, policies, and best practices aligned to evolving technologies
- Continuously assess emerging risks associated with AI systems and propose practical mitigation strategies
What You’ll Bring…
- 4-10 years’ experience in information security engineering or related technical security roles (flexible depending on depth and capability)
- Strong grounding in core security domains, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management
- Familiarity with common attack techniques and defensive strategies across modern systems
- Experience working with security tooling such as EDR, SIEM, or vulnerability scanning platforms
- Experience securing AI/ML systems, agent-based architectures, or automated workflows
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices and integrating security into engineering workflows
- Strong scripting or programming ability (e.g. Python or similar) to support automation and tooling
- Experience working within Linux-based environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
- (Preferred) Exposure to high-performance computing or research-driven environments
- (Preferred) Experience building or automating security processes at scale
