Role Overview
We’re representing a fast-growing proprietary trading firm seeking a senior cloud infrastructure engineer to take ownership of its global cloud estate. This is a high-impact individual contributor role today, with scope to become a broader technical leadership position as the platform and team continue to scale.
The role spans firmwide cloud infrastructure across trading, research and specialist desk environments. You’ll be responsible for designing resilient, secure and performance-aware cloud platforms across AWS and GCP, with particular emphasis on cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, infrastructure automation, observability and low-latency workload placement. Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and operation of cloud infrastructure supporting trading, research and engineering workloads globally
- Architect cloud networking across AWS and GCP, including VPC design, routing, segmentation, hybrid connectivity and traffic control
- Partner with network engineering teams on resilient connectivity between offices, cloud platforms and latency-sensitive environments
- Lead cloud infrastructure planning for migration of latency-sensitive workloads into GCP
- Set compute placement strategies for performance-critical workloads, factoring in locality, isolation, and capacity requirements
- Build shared platform capabilities that allow engineering teams to consume cloud infrastructure safely and consistently
- Establish multi-cloud governance across IAM, organisation policies, account/project structure and security controls
- Extend Terraform-based infrastructure standards across AWS and GCP environments
- Own observability at the cloud layer, including monitoring, alerting, logging and performance visibility
- Act as a senior escalation point for cloud infrastructure incidents, driving issues from diagnosis through to durable resolution
- Build cost visibility and optimisation practices across trading and research workloads
- Support specialist trading desks with secure, low-latency connectivity to external venues, APIs and market data feeds
- Mentor engineers and help define infrastructure standards as the cloud function matures
What You’ll Bring…
- 6-12 years’ experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE or infrastructure engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience operating AWS and GCP in production environments
- Deep understanding of cloud networking, including VPC architecture, routing, VPNs, private connectivity, transit patterns and segmentation
- Proven experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tooling at scale
- Background supporting performance-sensitive, highly available or low-latency systems
- Experience designing shared cloud platforms used by multiple engineering teams
- Strong understanding of IAM, policy enforcement, security boundaries and multi-account / multi-project governance
- Practical knowledge of GCP services such as Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud Logging and Cloud Monitoring
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, compute and deployment layers
- Experience supporting electronic trading, market-making, crypto trading or similarly latency-sensitive environments
- Ability to operate as a senior IC with ownership over strategy, implementation and operational outcomes
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with trading, engineering, infrastructure and leadership stakeholders
- (Preferred) Exposure to WebSocket market data, exchange connectivity, API security or private peering models
- (Preferred) Awareness of crypto-specific infrastructure risks such as DDoS, API key compromise, BGP hijacking or exchange connectivity failure modes
