This is a growth hire, working closely with systems engineers, cloud architecture specialists and trading technology teams across a high-performance Linux and AWS estate.
The role combines hands-on production ownership with meaningful engineering project work, including automation, monitoring, cloud optimisation, core infrastructure services and latency-sensitive platform improvement. Expect real BAU and support responsibility, especially early on, but with clear scope to influence the reliability, resilience and performance of critical trading infrastructure...
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain and improve Linux infrastructure across trading, research and business-critical environments
- Troubleshoot production issues across Linux, AWS, networking, storage, provisioning, monitoring and performance
- Build and refine automation for configuration management, deployment, monitoring and server lifecycle workflows
- Own and improve core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS and related platform components
- Partner with cloud architecture teams on AWS design, optimisation and operational improvement
- Improve observability, resilience, availability and performance across existing cloud and hybrid environments
- Support infrastructure used for latency-sensitive and real-time trading workloads
- Contribute to project work across cloud optimisation, monitoring uplift, new site build-outs and network redesign
- Participate in a shared on-call rota covering early morning and occasional weekend support

- 4+ years of experience operating, supporting or engineering advanced Linux environments
- Strong Linux systems knowledge, including operating system fundamentals, troubleshooting and performance analysis
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience using Bash and Python
- Experience with configuration management, provisioning or orchestration tools, ideally Ansible
- Strong AWS infrastructure knowledge across compute, networking and storage services such as EC2, VPC, ELB, Direct Connect, S3 and EBS
- Good understanding of server-side networking, protocols, routing concepts and production connectivity
- Exposure to container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience improving reliability, stability and performance in fast-moving infrastructure environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD, source control, automated deployment and infrastructure change workflows
- Clear communication, strong ownership and a methodical approach to complex production issues
- Comfortable using AI tools to improve day-to-day engineering productivity
- (Preferred) Experience supporting trading, crypto, market data, low-latency or other real-time infrastructure
- (Preferred) Open-source contributions, personal infrastructure projects or relevant AWS certifications
