Role Overview
We are representing a major global financial institution seeking a Managing Director-level Business Information Security Officer to report directly to the CISO and help build and mature its BISO capability across the Americas. This is a strategic, business-facing leadership role focused on establishing trusted relationships, translating cybersecurity strategy into commercial outcomes and defining how the BISO function engages with the organisation. It is not a hands-on security engineering position...
Key Responsibilities
- Help define, build and mature the BISO operating model across the organisation
- Act as the principal cybersecurity relationship manager for senior business and technology stakeholders
- Translate enterprise cyber strategy into clear priorities, outcomes and delivery plans for the supported business
- Provide regular executive-level updates covering cybersecurity priorities, emerging risks, programme progress and remediation activity
- Establish credibility with business leaders and strengthen ownership of cybersecurity risk across the organisation
- Lead cross-functional working groups covering areas such as data security, data loss prevention and business-led control improvement
- Coordinate global cybersecurity initiatives, including programmes originating from the organisation’s Japanese headquarters
- Support the continued expansion of the BISO model across the Americas, including future engagement with Corporate and Investment Banking
- Partner with security, technology, risk and business teams to resolve issues and deliver strategic cybersecurity initiatives
- Represent the organisation at industry forums and events, including RSA, FS-ISAC and relevant banking-security communities
- Communicate complex cybersecurity issues in clear commercial terms without losing the underlying technical context
- Help shape the governance, communication and engagement frameworks through which the business interacts with Cybersecurity
What You’ll Bring…
- 12+ years of cybersecurity, information security or technology-risk experience, including senior responsibility for business engagement, security strategy or enterprise cyber leadership
- Previous experience operating as a BISO, CISO, Deputy CISO or senior cybersecurity leader within a large and complex organisation
- Exceptional executive presence with the confidence to advise, challenge and influence senior business and technology leaders
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish credibility within a developing function
- Experience executing cybersecurity strategy across multiple teams, jurisdictions or business divisions
- Broad technical understanding across areas such as data security, application security, infrastructure, IAM, cloud, incident response and security operations
- Sufficient technical credibility to engage constructively with security specialists without needing to be a deeply hands-on practitioner
- Strong judgement and the ability to navigate complex, high-profile and politically sensitive stakeholder environments
- Experience leading cross-functional governance groups, strategic programmes or material cybersecurity remediation initiatives
- Ability to communicate cyber risk, investment requirements and strategic priorities in clear business language
- (Preferred) Experience within banking, capital markets, asset management or another highly regulated financial-services environment
- (Preferred) Previous engagement with Corporate and Investment Banking, Global Markets or other front-office business stakeholders
- (Preferred) Experience representing an organisation at industry forums, regulatory engagements or cybersecurity information-sharing groups
