Role Overview
A leading global investment firm is expanding the engineering platform supporting its systematic trading business. The team builds the performance-critical services connecting research, portfolio construction and live execution across international markets. You will develop modern C++ systems spanning exchange connectivity, order management, real-time risk and execution infrastructure, combining greenfield engineering with the continued improvement of business-critical production services...
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement latency-sensitive trading services using modern C++
- Build and maintain connectivity to exchanges, brokers and electronic liquidity venues
- Develop order-routing, pre-trade risk and real-time order-state capabilities
- Measure and reduce latency through profiling, benchmarking and systems-level optimisation
- Improve throughput, determinism, fault tolerance and operational resilience across the execution stack
- Partner closely with systematic portfolio managers, quantitative researchers and traders to translate strategy requirements into production technology
- Establish testing, deployment and observability practices appropriate for mission-critical trading systems
- Evaluate new networking, hardware and software techniques where they can produce measurable performance improvements
- Support live trading services and participate in a shared production-support rotation
What You’ll Bring...
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial ownership of production C++ systems in electronic trading or another performance-critical environment
- Advanced modern C++ knowledge, ideally covering C++17, C++20 or C++23, concurrency, memory management, templates and performance-aware software design
- Proven experience developing low-latency, high-throughput or real-time systems on Linux
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems and software architecture
- Practical network-programming knowledge across TCP, UDP, multicast and asynchronous I/O
- Evidence of using profiling, benchmarking and observability tools to identify and remove performance bottlenecks
- Experience building reliable automated tests, deployment pipelines and production safeguards
- Ability to work directly with quantitative and trading stakeholders in a fast-moving global environment
- (Preferred) Experience with market access, order-management systems, execution platforms or pre-trade risk controls
- (Preferred) Background within systematic trading, market making, proprietary trading, hedge funds or electronic markets
- (Preferred) Familiarity with kernel bypass, RDMA, FPGA-based acceleration or other hardware-aware optimisation techniques
