Job Description

[Up to c. £450k Comp Package (or equivalent) | On-Site Working]

Role Overview

We’re representing a leading global investment firm seeking a senior individual contributor to engineer the automation platform supporting its complex, business-critical network estate. This is a software-led networking role with ownership from architecture through production operation. You will build frameworks, APIs and deployment pipelines while applying emerging agentic technologies to network engineering and operational workflows...

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable automation platforms controlling complex, multi-vendor network infrastructure
  • Develop production-quality Python applications, reusable libraries and API-driven services rather than isolated operational scripts
  • Establish automated testing, validation, deployment and rollback through robust CI/CD pipelines
  • Build containerised network services deployed through Kubernetes and integrated with broader infrastructure platforms
  • Implement model-driven automation using technologies including NETCONF, YANG, gNMI and vendor APIs
  • Develop reliable data and event-processing integrations using PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka or comparable technologies
  • Apply LLMs, agentic workflows and MCP services to network discovery, validation, troubleshooting and controlled change execution
  • Partner with networking, cloud, security and software-engineering teams while retaining end-to-end technical ownership

What You’ll Bring…

  • Around 8-14 years’ experience spanning advanced network engineering and substantial software or automation development
  • Expert Python engineering capability, including application design, testing, packaging, APIs and maintainable production code
  • Proven ownership of network-automation frameworks built or materially redesigned from the ground up
  • Strong knowledge of BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, segment routing, multicast and high-availability IP architectures
  • Experience across Arista and Cisco environments, with wider exposure to firewalls, F5 load balancing, NAC, DNS and DHCP
  • Strong CI/CD, Linux, Kubernetes, cloud networking and infrastructure-as-code knowledge
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs or agentic tooling, ideally including MCP tools, resources or services
  • (Preferred) Financial-services, electronic-trading, expert-level certification or relevant computer-science degree
