Job Description

[Up to c. $215k Base Salary + Discretionary Bonus | Hybrid Working]

Role Overview

We’re representing a major international banking group strengthening its cyber security advisory capability across the Americas. This newly prioritised Director-level appointment will help reposition security as a commercially aware partner that enables strategic business and technology change, rather than operating primarily as a governance or approval function. The successful individual will act as a senior technical adviser across application, infrastructure, architecture, trading technology and enterprise transformation initiatives. The role requires enough engineering and architecture depth to challenge technical teams constructively, alongside the executive communication skills to translate complex security exposure into proportionate, business-aligned decisions...

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior cyber security adviser to business executives, technology leadership, product owners, architects and engineering teams across high-profile transformation and delivery initiatives
  • Provide practical secure-by-design guidance throughout architecture, solution design and development lifecycles, helping teams identify workable controls without unnecessarily delaying delivery
  • Lead detailed security architecture assessments, threat-modelling exercises and design reviews across applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise services and front-office technology environments
  • Evaluate security weaknesses, architectural risks and control gaps, then recommend proportionate remediation, risk-treatment or acceptance options aligned with the organisation’s risk appetite
  • Translate technical findings, emerging threats and residual risk into clear business language, enabling senior stakeholders to make informed investment, delivery and risk-ownership decisions
  • Provide cyber security leadership across strategic programmes, acquisitions, divestitures, integration activity and major technology change, including due diligence and post-transaction risk planning
  • Assess third-party and vendor security posture, advise on onboarding and contractual risk decisions, and develop stronger long-term security relationships with strategically important suppliers
  • Build and mature the security advisory capability, partnering closely with security architecture, engineering, operations, infrastructure, legal, compliance, audit and enterprise risk teams to improve consistency and execution

What You’ll Bring…

  • 12+ years’ experience across cyber security architecture, engineering, advisory or technical risk, including meaningful leadership responsibility within a complex financial-services organisation
  • Deep practical knowledge of security architecture, secure-by-design principles, threat modelling, enterprise risk assessment, security design reviews and risk-based control selection
  • Strong technical credibility across modern application, infrastructure and cloud environments, with the ability to challenge experienced architects and engineers on design assumptions and security trade-offs
  • Proven experience advising senior business and technology stakeholders, translating complex cyber security issues into clear commercial implications, options and recommended actions
  • Detailed understanding of financial-services regulation, security governance and control frameworks, with experience mapping regulatory obligations to technology designs, programmes and operating processes
  • Evidence of building trusted relationships across security, engineering, infrastructure, front-office technology, trading, product, business leadership and other high-pressure stakeholder groups
  • (Preferred) Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, bank integrations, large-scale transformation programmes or cyber security due diligence within a regulated environment
  • (Preferred) Previous responsibility for leading or developing a security advisory, architecture or design-assurance function and driving cultural change towards a more enabling security model
