Role Overview

We’re representing a global electronic-markets business whose platforms support high-volume trading across multiple asset classes. This hire will strengthen the engineering of performance-sensitive, business-critical services while supporting continued platform modernisation. The position is backend-led but requires flexibility across Node.js and TypeScript initiatives. Engineers will influence architecture, work closely with product stakeholders and contribute to emerging AI-enabled capabilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain high-throughput backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot and established microservice patterns
  • Develop Kafka-based streaming workflows and asynchronous messaging components for business-critical, event-driven applications
  • Shape system architecture, service boundaries and data flows across scalable, performance-sensitive distributed environments
  • Build reusable REST APIs and integration components that connect trading platforms, internal services and user-facing applications
  • Contribute confidently to Node.js, TypeScript and frontend delivery where project requirements extend beyond the Java backend
  • Integrate emerging AI-enabled services and development capabilities into secure, reliable production engineering workflows
  • Improve application latency, resilience, scalability, security and observability through profiling, testing and considered technical design
  • Partner directly with product managers, business analysts and engineering teams to translate complex requirements into maintainable solutions


What You’ll Bring…

  • Around 7-12 years of hands-on software engineering experience, primarily building scalable backend or full-stack production systems
  • Deep Core Java and Spring Boot expertise, including multithreading, concurrency, synchronisation, collections and performance optimisation
  • Strong production experience with Kafka, asynchronous messaging and event-driven architecture across high-volume distributed applications
  • Proven system-design capability covering microservices, service orchestration, reliability patterns, data architecture and technical trade-offs
  • Practical Node.js and TypeScript experience, with genuine willingness to work across these technologies as project allocation changes
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, Redis, data modelling, caching strategies, REST APIs and backend integration patterns
  • Clear stakeholder-management and communication skills, particularly when working across product, analysis, frontend and platform teams
  • (Preferred) Experience with AI-enabled applications, cloud platforms, fintech, electronic trading, market data or fixed-income technology
