Senior C++ Software Engineer - Digital Assets

Europe, United Kingdom, London
Permanent
Job ID: 2586

Job Description

[Up to c. £350k Comp Package | Hybrid Working - 5 Days On-site Initially, Then Minimum 3 Days]

Role Overview

We’re representing a global quantitative trading firm building out a new digital-assets market-making capability from London. The team is establishing the technology required to trade cryptocurrency markets at institutional scale, extending an existing low-latency trading environment into a new asset class rather than building standalone crypto or DeFi products.

This position sits within a small specialist engineering group working directly with traders, researchers and the wider trading technology organisation. You’ll develop production C++ systems spanning exchange connectivity, execution workflows and the infrastructure required to operate reliably across fast-moving electronic markets. The platform is still at an important stage of its development, creating scope to influence architecture, engineering standards and how the team approaches production ownership. The strongest candidates will combine high-performance C++ engineering with experience of exchange-driven markets and the judgement required to turn imperfect trading requirements into dependable systems...

Role Snapshot

  • Build and own latency-sensitive C++ software supporting digital-assets market making, order execution and wider production trading workflows
  • Typically suited to an engineer with 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within electronic trading, market making, exchange technology or another demanding real-time systems environment
  • Bring deep production C++ capability, including performance-conscious design, debugging and engineering systems where latency, correctness and reliability materially affect trading outcomes
  • Develop and maintain integrations with centralised digital-asset exchanges, potentially including venues such as Binance, Deribit and OKX, covering market data, order routing and execution connectivity
  • Work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to turn market observations and strategy requirements into deployable technology, iterating quickly without compromising production quality
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for live systems, including monitoring, automation, recovery tooling, incident investigation and improvements arising from real trading conditions
  • Contribute to the architecture of a growing digital-assets platform, balancing immediate trading requirements with maintainability, resilience and future scale
  • Apply strong understanding of distributed systems, networking and failure modes when diagnosing issues across internal trading infrastructure and external exchange integrations
  • (Preferred) Previous experience within proprietary trading, hedge funds, market making, exchanges or investment-bank electronic trading, particularly involving low-latency connectivity or real-time market infrastructure
  • (Preferred) Direct experience with institutional digital-asset markets and/or cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, although strong traditional-market exchange connectivity with credible crypto exposure can be equally relevant
