Role Overview
We’re representing a technology-led quantitative trading organisation expanding a global Developer Experience function responsible for the engineering systems that sit between writing code and running it safely in production.
This London position is centred on build infrastructure, CI/CD and software-development efficiency. As code creation becomes increasingly automated, the engineering constraint is shifting towards compiling, testing, validating and releasing changes quickly without sacrificing reliability. Role Snapshot
- Experienced software or platform engineer with a strong track record building developer tooling, build infrastructure or shared engineering platforms rather than primarily operating cloud infrastructure
- Own improvements across build and validation workflows, reducing feedback times while maintaining deterministic, reliable and repeatable software delivery
- Bring strong practical knowledge of modern build technologies such as Bazel, Buck2, Pants, Gradle or comparable systems, including the architectural principles behind them
- Understand dependency graphs, incremental execution, local and remote caching, artefact handling, scheduling and the causes of build-performance degradation
- Engineer scalable CI/CD capabilities using platforms such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or equivalent, including the infrastructure and reusable components behind those pipelines
- Use telemetry and performance data to identify bottlenecks across local development, builds and continuous integration rather than relying on anecdotal developer feedback
- Build shared tooling, libraries, pipeline components and development environments that can be adopted across multiple engineering groups and codebases
- Work directly with engineers to understand workflow constraints, translate them into platform-level problems and drive adoption of improved tooling and standards
- Strong computer science and software-engineering fundamentals are essential; deep C++ specialism not mandatory, but should be technically comfortable working with C++ code in a performance-sensitive environment
- Design development workflows that remain deterministic and automatable as software engineering increasingly incorporates coding agents and machine-assisted development
