Job Description

[Up to c. £300k Comp Package (or equivalent) | Hybrid Working - 3 Days in Office]

Role Overview

We’re representing a global multi-strategy investment firm strengthening its Windows engineering capability within a small international infrastructure team. The immediate preference is to make the hire in London to add greater balance to the global team, although New York remains an alternative location for the right profile.

This position sits within a 10-person Windows engineering function responsible for Microsoft infrastructure across server, desktop, identity, cloud services and mobile endpoints. Rather than specialising in one narrow technology, this engineer will work broadly across the estate and take ownership of both major engineering projects and continual platform improvement. It suits a senior Windows engineer who wants to remain highly technical. Automation is a significant part of the role, with scope to reduce manual administration, strengthen engineering standards and improve how infrastructure is provisioned, configured, monitored and recovered...

Role Snapshot

  • Own engineering across a broad Microsoft environment spanning Windows Server, Windows endpoints, Active Directory, identity, Microsoft 365 and endpoint management
  • Bring approximately 7+ years of hands-on Windows infrastructure engineering experience, including strong Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 10/11 knowledge
  • Demonstrate deep expertise across Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and certificate services, with the troubleshooting depth expected in highly available production environments
  • Build substantial PowerShell automation around provisioning, configuration, maintenance and operational workflows rather than relying predominantly on manual administration
  • Engineer desktop environments covering deployment, patching, configuration standards, endpoint hardening and performance for demanding professional users
  • Work extensively with Microsoft cloud and endpoint technologies including Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SCCM and Intune
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management practices using technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, DSC or comparable tooling
  • Take projects from technical design and testing through implementation, documentation and production ownership, while contributing to senior escalation and on-call coverage
  • (Preferred) Experience with Citrix, VMware or Hyper-V, hybrid cloud infrastructure, endpoint observability or similarly complex enterprise infrastructure platforms
  • (Preferred) Exposure to GitLab-based engineering workflows, AI-related infrastructure initiatives, mobile engineering or previous hedge fund, trading or other regulated financial-services environments
