Role Overview
We’re representing a global multi-strategy investment firm building shared engineering platforms used across technology, research and investment functions. Its Platform Engineering organisation provides much of the software and infrastructure that allows technical teams to develop, deploy and operate applications reliably across a substantial production estate.
This hire will focus on the internal developer platform, spanning runtime services, core platform infrastructure and the systems that accelerate software delivery. A significant part of the opportunity is applying agentic AI practically across engineering workflows, helping developers and researchers move from an idea through implementation, testing and production deployment more efficiently. This is a senior software-engineering position rather than a traditional DevOps role. Role Snapshot
- Bring 8+ years of hands-on software-engineering experience, including ownership of production systems from architecture and technical design through implementation and operation
- Develop substantial production software in Go and Python, with the depth to design maintainable platform services rather than primarily scripting around existing infrastructure
- Build developer-platform capabilities spanning application runtime, shared services, infrastructure enablement and automated software-delivery workflows
- Apply agentic workflows and SDKs across the development lifecycle, including practical use cases around software creation, testing, validation and deployment
- Design distributed services using REST and gRPC, with experience engineering systems where throughput, availability, scalability and operational behaviour matter
- Engineer containerised platforms using Kubernetes, alongside the underlying services and automation required to run application workloads reliably
- Automate infrastructure and platform configuration using Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code approaches, reducing manual operational dependency
- Improve CI/CD, observability, deployment automation and operational tooling while increasing the level of autonomy available to application-development teams
- Contribute reusable architecture, frameworks and engineering patterns that can be adopted consistently across a broad technology organisation
- Take meaningful production ownership, including troubleshooting, incident response and participation in on-call, while communicating technical designs and trade-offs clearly to engineering and business stakeholders
