Role Overview
We’re representing a major global investment firm building and operating technology infrastructure directly supporting systematic and electronic trading. They are hiring a senior Network Engineering Lead to take technical ownership of the low-latency network environment connecting trading platforms with exchanges, brokers, market-data providers and strategically located colocation facilities. The position also leads a six-person US engineering team while remaining closely involved in architecture, troubleshooting and major technical decisions.
This is fundamentally a trading-network engineering role rather than conventional enterprise networking. Role Snapshot
- Bring substantial hands-on experience engineering production networks supporting electronic or systematic trading within a buy-side, sell-side, market-making or comparable financial environment
- Lead six US-based network engineers while remaining technically involved in architecture, complex troubleshooting, standards and engineering direction
- Own the evolution of low-latency connectivity across colocation sites, exchange infrastructure, proximity facilities, brokers, venues and external data providers
- Apply deep BGP and IP-routing expertise across WAN and extranet environments where route quality, predictability and latency directly affect trading performance
- Engineer high-performance Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 infrastructure spanning switching, optical transport, DWDM, cross-connects, structured cabling and capacity management
- Take end-to-end responsibility for multicast and unicast market-data delivery, including feed integrity, packet loss, gaps, arbitration paths and sustained line-rate performance
- Deliver network connectivity for trading venues and brokers, supporting gateway activation, testing, certification and production readiness
- Build strong observability around latency and network quality using packet capture, telemetry, precision timing, hardware timestamping and detailed traffic analysis
- Improve repeatability and operational safety through automation of network changes, validation, diagnostics, compliance checks and connectivity onboarding
- Set engineering standards, develop senior engineers and manage key relationships with carriers, colocation providers, vendors and internal trading-technology stakeholders
