Job Description

[Up to c. $280k Base Salary + Discretionary Bonus | Hybrid Working - 3 Days in Office]

Role Overview

We’re representing an established proprietary trading organisation undertaking a significant transformation of its internal compute infrastructure. Supporting trading desks, quantitative researchers and enterprise applications, the firm is transitioning from VMware to a newly engineered OpenStack platform, creating an opportunity to influence its architecture and implementation from the outset.

Joining a specialist four-person virtualisation team, including a technical lead, you'll take a central role in building this greenfield platform. The mandate extends beyond traditional infrastructure administration, combining technical design, hands-on OpenStack engineering, automation and production ownership. You'll help establish the foundations for a reliable, scalable and cost-efficient environment that can support demanding workloads across the business. This position calls for an experienced OpenStack specialist who can contribute meaningfully to architectural decisions while remaining closely involved in implementation and troubleshooting. You'll have considerable technical influence, working alongside experienced infrastructure engineers and supporting a business where engineering quality, operational resilience and practical problem-solving carry significant weight...

  • Diagnose and resolve critical production incidents, including participation in an on-call rotation supporting business-critical trading and research systems
  • Collaborate with the technical lead, fellow engineers and internal technology teams to establish engineering standards, improve platform reliability and share technical expertise
  • (Preferred) Previous VMware ESXi experience, Kubernetes or containerisation knowledge, and broader software or application engineering exposure
