Technical Program Managers
Job Description
[Up to c. $275 Comp Packages | Office-Led/Hybrid Working]
Role Overview
We’re representing two systematic trading and research firms, each hiring a Technical Program Manager in New York. Both want someone who sits alongside engineers and moves work forward, rather than someone who simply tracks tasks and reports status. One mandate supports cyber security engineering, where priorities are rarely handed down and the TPM is expected to find them, shape them and push them through. The other supports a rapidly growing generative AI platform team, where the need is delivery structure across a portfolio of products and a cross-site group. Either way, you’ll own outcomes, influence engineers without formal authority and bring order to busy, ambiguous environments...
Role Snapshot
- Own technical initiatives from problem definition through to delivery, setting priorities and approach with minimal direction
- Roughly 4-9 years in technical programme management, technical product management or a similar role embedded with engineering teams
- Working understanding of software systems, infrastructure, architecture and engineering trade-offs, enough to challenge assumptions credibly (no coding required)
- Influence engineers and senior stakeholders without formal authority, chasing dependencies, removing blockers and holding teams to account
- Bring structure to ambiguity, building lightweight processes where none exist rather than imposing rigid frameworks
- Cyber security mandate: act as a thought partner to security engineers, helping shape priorities and unpick technical dependencies
- AI platform mandate: run sprint planning and delivery throughput across a portfolio of concurrent workstreams, with timelines, dependencies and resource trade-offs
- AI platform mandate: coordinate across sites and time zones, including an India-based team, and own recurring reporting for technical and non-technical audiences
- (Preferred) Exposure to cyber security, infrastructure or AI platforms, or a technical degree
- (Preferred) Structured big-tech programme training followed by broader ownership in a smaller, engineering-led organisation
