Our client is a leading provider of alternative investment solutions with approximately $63 billion in assets under management (AUM) and over 600 employees worldwide, including offices in London, New York, Singapore, and Hong Kong. They are seeking an enthusiastic Desktop Engineer to join their team, focusing on continuously improving the end-user experience, identifying areas for change, and collaborating with key stakeholders to integrate technology seamlessly. While the role is currently BAU-centric, as the team expands, the position is expected to become 40%-50% project-focused in the long term.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the business, technology, and client functions, ensuring issues and trends are promptly identified and addressed
  • Understand business requirements and technical capabilities to optimise the user experience, including handling basic tasks such as keyboard problems
  • Work directly with all areas of the business, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to provide VIP and white-glove services
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate the quality of their products and services and identify areas for improvement
  • Analyse events, handle incidents effectively, and influence decisions to enhance the reliability and speed of response
  • Identify and collate key metrics related to user experience and collaborate with teams to automate data collection for proactive action


Key Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in a desktop engineer role, with a broad skill set and the ability to add value
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, including writing scripts
  • Experience with automation tooling and mindset, open to specific tools
  • Virtualization experience, as the company does not have physical desktops (open to the specific technology used)
  • An understanding of best practices and the ability to articulate the "why" behind them
  • Demonstrable expert knowledge of O365 applications (including PowerPoint & SharePoint)
  • Extensive knowledge in supporting Windows operating systems, networks, and applications
  • Experience in administration & remote deployment
  • Strong desktop, office device, and network troubleshooting skills (Telephony, Internet, accessories)
  • (Desired) Linux experience is a significant plus
